Monica Ferrarini - Critical Analysis
“The Dark Side” is a journey of the artist in search of the self. It’s a warning to the viewer to approach the path of discovery of their inner universe which is made of painful obstacles, vortex of emotions that often leave us dazed and almost defenseless. In the white space of the canvas dark spots stand, black and red, they are our limits, those emotional holes that we create when we do not accept our "dark side".
Accepting every fragment of our intimate sphere is self-awareness, and as long as our dark side remains hidden, locked away, concealed, we'll never reach the freedom of spirit. This is a path made also and especially of pain, as the red sphere remembers observing the viewer as if it warned him that the outside world is nothing but a projection of our thoughts and of what we harbor inside.
"Gamma Ray" refers to the study of the energies that govern the Universe and ourselves, because man is made of matter and energy: "matter is vibration and the vibration is energy," as quantum physics demonstrated the human being and the Universe are one.
